SELECTIVIDAD 2020

Morning guys,

6. Qué os digo de los WRITING. Soy una pesada pero ya lo sabéis:

a. identifica el tipo: advantages /disadvantages; opinion essay; descriptive essay or narrative.
c. Conectores para unir ideas: on the one hand, on the other hand, moreover, furthermore, on the contrary, to sum up, in short...
d. Vocabulario variado.

7. Repasar antes de entregar!

MUCHA SUERTE CHIC@S! TENED CONFIANZA EN VOSOTROS MISMOS!

BELIEVE IN YOURSELVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Frida Kahlo

Magdalena Carmen Frida Kahlo y Calderón (6 July 1907 – 13 July 1954), usually known as Frida Kahlo, was a Mexican painter. She was known for her surreal and very personal works. She was married to Diego Rivera, also a well-known painter.
She was born in Coyoacán, Mexico. She had polio that left her disabled when she was 6 years old and some people think that she may have had spina bifida (a birth defect affecting the development of part of the spine) as well.
She studied medicine and was going to become a doctor.
Because of a traffic accident at age 18 which badly injured her, she had periods of severe pain for the rest of her life. After this accident, Kahlo no longer continued her medical studies but took up painting. She used ideas about things that had happened to her. Her paintings are often shocking in the way they show pain and the harsh lives of women, especially her feelings about not being able to have children.
Fifty-five of her 143 paintings are of herself. She was also influenced by native Mexican culture, shown in bright colors, with a mixture of realism and symbolism. Her paintings attracted the attention of the artist Diego Rivera, whom she later married. She was a communist. She died of a pulmonary embolism in Coyoacán.
Kahlo's work is sometimes called "surrealist", and although she organized art shows several times with European surrealists, she herself did not like that label.

COVID-19 Stress: It’s OK to Be Human
This is obviously a stressfultraumatic time for all, whether it is economic, medical, mental health, or family issues when on lockdown. When we experience trauma, we have feelings that must be dealt with and processed. This is not the time to pretend that all is fine and suppress emotions. It’s normal to feel afraid and uncertain and anxious. We’ve all had to deal with both good and bad news in our lives, but it is more difficult to deal with uncertainty. When in this crisis with so few answers or solutions, it leaves us with anticipatory anxiety because all the answers are not there yet. The recommendations and advice seem to change as we learn more each day. Here are five coping strategies I am sharing with my clients:
1. Talk About Your Feelings: This is a time to talk about your feelings. It is perfectly fine to say you are scared, nervous, and worried. It’s important to vent those feelings to friends and family. Sharing your own vulnerability will help others to do the same as we are all in this together.
2. We Are All Different: It’s important to remember that different people will cope in different ways. Some people, for instance, need to watch the news every day and want to know what is happening as that helps reduce their anxiety. Others become more anxious the more they watch the news.
3. Stay Away From Toxic People: If you are cooped up with a toxic person, try ignoring the projections and don’t personalize them. Just realize that it’s their problem and not yours.
4. Do the Best You Can: follow medical advice We are having to think about things we haven’t thought about before such as wearing gloves to get the mail or washing down the grocery packaging before we put the groceries away. This is stressful and time-consuming and it irritates most everyone.
5. Dealing With Children: Young children can’t understand what is happening so it’s our job to carefully explain without scaring them. Tell them that they are sick with a cold they have to stay home, wash their hands, cover their mouths when coughing, etc. They don’t need to know how deadly this virus is. Make time to play. It’s a great time for card and board games for the whole family. Use caution to monitor news coverage that may frighten young children.
